Sunday, June 12, was Women’s Veterans Day.

Women Veterans Day is the anniversary of the day the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act (pub.L. 80–625, 62 Stat. 356) was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948.

The first Women Veterans Day was celebrated on June 12, 2018, a tribute to a groundbreaking day when women were acknowledged as essential to the war efforts and could serve in the regular armed forces.

Women served in the United States Military as early as the Revolutionary War. Since then, women of all ages, ranks, and levels of authority have entered every branch of service, made significant contributions, suffered the same sacrifices as men, and may be eligible for a wide variety of benefits available to all U.S. military Veterans. VA benefits include disability compensation, pension, education and training, health care, home loans, insurance, vocational rehabilitation and employment, and burial. There is a toll-free number where women veterans call the center to find out more about VA Health Care and more at 855-829-6636 to get help and find available resources and services in their areas.

The Veterans Business Administration also has a wealth of information that benefits Women Vets. Below are links to more information about women’s veterans’ day and applying to a particular benefit or problem.
